Can You Do "Just One Thing" for Cleaner Air? You Could Win a New Toyota Prius!
Each and every day, you can make a difference when it comes to air quality. Take these simple steps to reduce global warming. Your choices will improve the air quality. Just follow these Green Actions every day, especially on Air Pollution Action Days.
GREEN PAYS ON GREEN DAYS
Partners for Clean Air is a coalition dedicated to bringing cleaner air to the Chicagoland area. Partners for Clean Air brings together businesses, health advocacy groups, transportation organizations and government agencies all committed to reducing air pollution in our communities. Each summer, Partners for Clean Air leads a public education initiative called "Green Pays on Green Days."
Green Pays on Green Days encourages individuals in the northeastern Illinois region to do "just one thing" to help reduce air pollution. Green Pays on Green Days educates area residents about "Green Actions" they can take (for example, taking public transit or using a charcoal chimney when grilling) to help prevent Air Pollution Action Days. Air Pollution Action Days occur when elevated levels of air pollution result in unhealthy air quality.
The term "Green Days" relates to the Federal Air Quality Index. The Illinois EPA and Partners for Clean Air work together to collect air quality data and to provide information to the public about the air quality forecast. A Green Day forecast means that air quality should be good. An "Orange" or "Red" forecast means that air quality may be unhealthy. These days may be designated as Air Pollution Action Days. To find out today's air quality, visit www.cleantheair.org.
By agreeing to do "just one thing," participants become eligible to win environmentally friendly prizes, which are awarded on Green Days during the contest. The Green Pays on Green Days grand prize is a new Toyota Prius donated by Your Chicagoland Toyota Dealers. To learn more about this ultra-low emission hybrid vehicle, visit www.toyota.com/prius.
Each year, thousands of Chicagoland area residents take Green Actions, helping reduce air pollution significantly. Can you do "just one thing?" We'll all breathe easier!
